Flojet 20115-213 Motor End Bell
The Flojet 20115-213 is the genuine replacement motor end bell for Flojet pumps. It is the cap that closes the non-drive end of the motor, carrying the rear bearing, housing the brush gear and holding the armature in alignment with the stator.
Alignment is the part of that job most worth appreciating. The clearance between a motor’s armature and the stator around it is very small, and it is the two end housings that hold one concentric within the other. If an end bell is cracked, distorted, or has had its bearing seat damaged, the armature no longer runs true — the result is noise, vibration, rapid bearing wear and, in the worst case, the armature actually contacting the stator.
Replace the end bell if it is cracked, if the bearing seat is worn oval or has been spun by a failed bearing, if the brush holders are damaged, or if the mounting features have been distorted by over-tightened through-bolts. Check the armature and commutator condition at the same time, since damage there often accompanies an end bell that has let the shaft run out of position.

The bearing outer race turns in its housing instead of staying put, usually leaving a polished or scored bore and a bearing that feels loose in the seat by hand.

Q: Can a distorted end bell be straightened?
