Flojet 20028-014 Valve Chamber Kit, EPDM
The Flojet 20028-014 is the genuine valve chamber kit with EPDM valves, carried under the factory designation "Valve Kit V/Chmbr Ep". It renews the check valves that give the pump its direction of flow.
Choosing EPDM is a decision about the liquid rather than about the pump. Where Buna-N is the general-purpose choice and Viton the answer for fuels and solvents, EPDM occupies its own territory: hot water and steam, alkalis and caustics, many dilute acids, ketones, and the phosphate-ester fluids used in some hydraulic systems. It also resists ozone and ultraviolet weathering better than most elastomers, which matters in equipment that spends long periods standing idle in sunlight.
The one thing EPDM will not tolerate is petroleum. Mineral oil, diesel and petrol swell it rapidly, and a swollen valve neither seats nor releases properly. That makes elastomer selection worth a moment’s thought rather than an automatic reorder of whatever was fitted last. Check the part number against your pump’s parts breakdown, fit the kit complete, and clean or renew the suction strainer if the old valves show cuts or embedded grit.
