Flojet 20028-003 TFE Valve Kit with Teflon O-Ring
The Flojet 20028-003 TFE is the genuine valve chamber kit supplied with a Teflon (PTFE) O-ring, carried under the factory designation "TFE Dbl BP Kit w/Teflon O’Ring". The TFE reference is the reason to choose this version over the standard one.
Teflon is specified where the liquid would attack an ordinary elastomer. PTFE is chemically inert to very nearly everything a pump will encounter — strong acids, strong caustics, solvents, oxidisers, chlorinated compounds — and it stays serviceable across a far wider temperature range than nitrile or even Viton. In a pump handling aggressive chemistry, the O-ring is very often the component that fails first, swelling or hardening while the valves and the chamber itself remain perfectly sound.
The trade-off worth knowing is that PTFE is not elastic in the way rubber is. It cold-flows under sustained clamping load and takes a permanent set it will not recover from, so a Teflon O-ring is a single-use item — fit a new one rather than reusing one that has been compressed. Assemble the chamber with clean hands and clean sealing faces, and check the part number against the parts breakdown for your pump before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When is Teflon the right choice over Viton?
When the chemistry is aggressive enough to attack even a fluoroelastomer — strong acids and caustics, some solvents and oxidisers. For fuels, oils and moderate chemicals, Viton is usually sufficient and easier to seal with.
Q: Why can a PTFE O-ring not be reused?
Because it cold-flows. Once it has been clamped it takes a permanent set and will not spring back to keep pressure on the joint, so refitting it means sealing at a lower load than designed.
Q: Does a Teflon O-ring need more clamping force?
It needs the specified clamping force applied evenly. PTFE is less forgiving of an uneven face than rubber is, so clean, flat sealing surfaces matter more than extra torque.
Q: Will this kit fit a pump currently running standard elastomers?
