Flojet 02090-108 Pressure Switch Kit, 20 PSI Max
The Flojet 02090-108 is the genuine pressure switch kit set to a 20 PSI maximum. It is the low-pressure option in the range, and it exists because there are systems where high pressure is not the goal and is actively unwelcome.
Low-pressure settings suit a particular set of jobs. Beverage and dispensing systems often specify a gentle delivery pressure to avoid foaming or damaging what is being moved. Gravity-fed and tank-to-tank transfer arrangements need flow rather than pressure. Plumbing that is old, lightly built or full of push-fit and barbed joints is simply happier working well below its limit. And systems feeding a filter, a membrane or a delicate appliance may have a maximum inlet pressure written into their specification.
The most important thing is to fit the switch the system was designed around rather than the one that sounds more capable. Putting a higher-pressure switch on an installation specified for 20 PSI does not upgrade it; it takes every joint and every component past its intended working range, and the failure usually appears somewhere other than where the change was made. Check the specification for your pump and for anything downstream before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would anyone want less pressure?
Because pressure is not the objective in every system. Dispensing, transfer and filtration applications care about controlled flow, and excess pressure causes foaming, strain and component damage rather than better performance.
Q: Can I fit a higher-pressure switch to this pump instead?
Not without checking the whole system. The pump, the plumbing and anything downstream were chosen around the design pressure, and raising it moves the stress onto whichever of them has the least margin.
Q: Will 20 PSI run a shower?
Not well. If the same pump also has to feed a shower, the low-pressure setting is the wrong choice and the system needs rethinking rather than a different switch.
Q: Does low pressure mean low flow?
Not directly. Flow depends mostly on the pump and the bore of the plumbing; the switch only decides at what pressure the pump stops. A low-pressure system can move plenty of water.
