Q: What does rapid cycling actually indicate?
Usually a switch with worn contacts, or a system with no cushion of air in it. Fitting or recharging an accumulator gives the pressure somewhere to go and stops the switch toggling on every small draw.
Q: Can I fit a higher-pressure switch to get better showers?
Only if the pump, the plumbing and the fittings are all rated for it. Raising the cut-out pressure on a system not designed for it usually finds the weakest joint rather than improving the shower.
Q: Does the switch need any adjustment when fitted?
These kits come set. Resist the temptation to adjust them by feel — the settings interact, and a switch tampered with rarely returns to its original behaviour.
