Flojet 01870001C Lock Clips, 3/8" ID, Pack of 6
The Flojet 01870001C is a genuine pack of six lock clips for 3/8" ID quick-connect fittings. The clip slides into the fitting once the tube is home and physically blocks the release collet, so the joint cannot be pushed apart while it is in service.
It is worth being precise about what the clip does and does not do, because this is widely misunderstood. The clip is not a seal — the O-ring inside the fitting does that, and a joint without a clip will hold pressure perfectly well on the bench. What the clip prevents is accidental release: a knock against the collet, a tube pulled sideways as something is moved in a locker, or vibration slowly working the collet open. On a pressurised system, a joint that lets go is not a drip, it is the contents of the tank.
Because they cost almost nothing and are easy to lose during a refit, buying a pack means never being tempted to leave one out. Q: Will the joint leak without a clip?
Not necessarily, and that is what makes leaving one out tempting. The O-ring seals whether or not the clip is fitted; the risk is the joint being released rather than seeping.
Q: Can a clip be reused after removal?
Yes, if it is undamaged. Discard any that are splayed, cracked or bent — a distorted clip sits proud and can be knocked out as easily as it went in.
Q: How do I remove one without damage?
Ease it straight out along its own axis with a small flat blade rather than twisting or levering it sideways. They are tougher than they look but they do not like being bent.
Q: Do I need clips on the suction side too?
Especially there. A suction joint that releases does not spray water — it silently swallows air, and the pump loses prime for reasons that are very hard to find.
