Flojet 01822000C Equal Tee, 1/2" ID

Q: Is a branched layout better than a manifold?
Each has its place. A manifold gives you individual isolation at one point; a branched layout uses less tubing and gives shorter runs. On a small system the branched approach is usually simpler and lighter.
Q: What is a dead leg and why does it matter?
A length of pipe that water sits in without moving, typically to a rarely used outlet. Stagnant water in a dead leg is where taste and hygiene problems start, so keeping branches short is worth doing.
Q: Can I fit the tee with the branch pointing down?
Yes, in any orientation. Pointing the branch downward does mean it drains rather than trapping air, which is helpful when you are bleeding a system after a refill.
Q: How do I isolate a branch for maintenance?
Fit a shut-off valve on the branch just after the tee. Doing it at the tee rather than at the fixture means you can work on the whole spur without draining the main run.
