Flojet 01820007C Reducing Coupling, 3/8" x 1/2" PEX
The Flojet 01820007C is a genuine push-fit reducing coupling joining 3/8" ID PEX to 1/2" ID PEX. It is the fitting that lets a 1/2" main supply step down to a 3/8" branch, or a 3/8" run connect to the larger tubing coming from the pump.
Reducing at the right point is one of the quiet decisions that determines how a water system performs. Run the whole installation in 3/8" and every outlet shares a restricted supply; run it all in 1/2" and you carry unnecessary bulk, weight and standing water in lines feeding a single small tap. The sensible arrangement is 1/2" for the main run from the pump and 3/8" for the spurs that feed individual fixtures, with the reduction made at the branch rather than at the pump.
Both ends are push-fit, so the coupling assembles by hand with no clamps, crimps or tools. Cut each tube square and clean, push each fully home until it seats, and pull gently on both to confirm they have locked before pressurising. Support the tubing near the fitting, and take particular care that the smaller tube is fully inserted — a short insertion is easier to leave on the smaller size and just as certain to leak.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where should the reduction be made?
As close to the fixture as is practical. Keeping the larger bore for as much of the run as possible preserves pressure at the outlet and lets the main line feed several branches without starving them.
Q: Does reducing the tube size cost much pressure?
Over a short spur, very little. Over a long run it becomes significant, which is why a long branch is usually better run in the larger size and reduced at the very end.
Q: Can I use a reducing bush inside a straight coupling instead?
Avoid it. Stacked adapters give you two seals where one would do, and the inner one is invisible for inspection once assembled.
Q: How do I tell the tube is fully inserted?
Mark the insertion depth on the tube with a pen before you push it in. If the mark disappears into the fitting, it is home; if a gap of bare tube is showing, it is not.
