Flojet 01820003C Adapter, 1/2" ID x 1/2" Male NPT
The Flojet 01820003C is a genuine push-fit adapter joining 1/2" ID tubing to a 1/2" male NPT thread. It is the fitting that takes the main supply run out to a threaded port — a pump inlet or outlet, a tank connection, an accumulator, a filter housing or a water heater.
Male NPT into a female port is the more robust way round for a plastic fitting, because the male is compressed by the joint rather than wedged open by it. It is still a tapered thread, so the seal depends on sealant and on the flanks bedding together, not on a shoulder or a washer. Fit it by hand until it stops, then a short turn with a spanner. Anything beyond that is adding stress rather than sealing.
On the tubing side, the 1/2" push-fit connection does the rest without judgement: a square clean cut, a full push home, and a firm tug to confirm it has locked. Make the threaded joint before connecting the tube, so you are not twisting the tubing while you tighten, and clip the run close to the fitting so the weight of water in the line is carried by the structure and not the joint.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there any advantage to male over female on the fitting?
Mechanically, yes. When a tapered joint is over-tightened the female half takes the splitting load, so putting the male thread on the plastic fitting and the female on the metal port is the more forgiving arrangement.
Q: Can I reuse a fitting that has been removed from a threaded port?
Usually, if the threads are undamaged. Clean off all the old sealant first — layering fresh tape over hardened paste is a common reason a reused joint weeps.
Q: Does it matter which way the tube is cut?
Square and burr-free, every time. The internal seal is a ring the tube has to slide cleanly past and then sit against; a ragged or angled end damages that seal on the way in.
Q: What is the correct order of assembly?
Thread first, tube second, clip third. Doing it in that order means nothing is twisted, nothing is loaded and nothing has to be disturbed once the system is filled.
