Support the tubing near the fitting so its weight is not hanging on the joint.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the tube need to be cut in a particular way?
Square and clean, with no burr or taper. A cut at an angle or with a ragged edge will not seat properly against the internal seal, and that is the most common cause of a push-fit joint that weeps.
Q: Can a push-fit joint be taken apart and reused?
These fittings are designed to be released and reconnected, which is a real advantage when you are routing a system. Inspect the tube end each time and cut back to fresh tubing if it is scored.
Q: What sealant should go on the threaded side?
PTFE tape or a suitable liquid thread sealant, applied to the male thread going into this fitting. Do not over-tighten — a plastic female thread will split long before it needs that much torque.
Q: Should the tubing be supported?
Yes. Clip the run within a few inches of the fitting so vibration and the weight of a water-filled tube are carried by the clip rather than by the joint.
