Flojet 01740-950S Strainer, 90° Quad Port x Quad Port
The Flojet 01740-950S is the genuine 90-degree inlet strainer with Quad-Port snap-in connections on both ends and a stainless steel screen. It is the fully snap-in version: Quad-Port into the pump, Quad-Port out to whichever port fitting the plumbing calls for, with the strainer and the right-angle turn built into the same moulding.
Being snap-in at both ends is what makes this piece useful. It means the whole inlet assembly — strainer, elbow and port fitting — comes apart by hand, so you can service the screen or change the outlet connection without touching a threaded joint, cutting a pipe or reaching for sealant. On a pump buried in a locker where you can get one hand to it and no tools, that is the difference between a five-minute job and a genuinely difficult one.
The 90-degree form also solves the kinked-hose problem that causes so much poor pump performance in confined installations, by turning the line immediately at the pump rather than demanding a long straight run in front of it. Each Quad-Port connection is sealed by an O-ring and held by a clip. Check both clips are properly seated after any service, inspect the O-rings while the assembly is apart, and replace the unit if the screen is torn or the body cracked.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would I want Quad Port on both ends?
Because it leaves the choice of final connection open. You can fit a barb, a threaded adapter or a tubing fitting to the outboard end and change it later without disturbing the strainer or the pump.
Q: Is a snap-in joint as secure as a threaded one?
For this duty, yes, provided the clip is fitted. The O-ring does the sealing and the clip takes the load, and neither depends on getting a torque right or on sealant that ages.
Q: What should I check if it weeps after reassembly?
Almost always the O-ring or the clip. Look for a nick or a flat spot on the O-ring, make sure it is seated squarely in its groove, and confirm the clip is fully home rather than half engaged.
Q: Can the elbow be pointed in any direction?
Yes. Set the orientation before you push the clip in, so the outlet faces the way the plumbing needs to run.
