Flojet 01720-010S Inlet Strainer, 3/4" Barb x Quad Port
The Flojet 01720-010S is the genuine inlet strainer with a 3/4" hose barb on one side and a Quad-Port snap-in connection on the other. It mounts directly onto the pump’s inlet port, so the strainer and the inlet fitting are a single component rather than two joints in the suction line.
That integration is genuinely useful on the suction side. Every additional connection between the tank and the pump is another place air can be drawn in, and air leaks on the suction side are the single most frustrating fault to chase in a water system — they let no water out, so there is nothing to see, and the only symptom is a pump that will not prime or that loses prime overnight. Combining the strainer and the inlet fitting removes one of those potential leak paths entirely.
The Quad-Port end snaps into the pump and is retained by a clip, with an O-ring making the seal, so it can be removed for cleaning by hand with no tools and no thread sealant. The 3/4" barb takes the suction hose from the tank. Clean the screen whenever flow drops off, and replace the unit if the screen is torn or the body cracked.

Q: What is a Quad Port connection?
It is Flojet’s snap-in port system. The fitting pushes into the pump housing, an O-ring makes the seal and a clip locks it in place, so ports can be changed or removed without tools or thread sealant.
Q: Will this fit a pump that does not have snap-in ports?
No. The Quad-Port end is designed for pumps built with the snap-in port housing. If your pump has threaded inlets you need a threaded strainer instead.
Q: Does it matter which way the strainer faces?
The Quad-Port end goes to the pump and the barb to the tank hose. Fitted the other way the screen would be downstream of the pump, protecting nothing.
Q: Can I run without the clip if it is missing?
No. The O-ring seals, but the clip is what holds the fitting in against pressure. Without it the port can push out, and on the suction side that means an instant loss of prime.
