Burks 23921-N Wet End Kit
This is the factory wet end kit Burks lists as part 23921-N. It replaces the parts that actually touch the pumped liquid, leaving the motor in place.
Wear in a centrifugal pump is spread across several parts at once. The impeller loses vane tip material, the wear ring clearance opens up, the casing gasket hardens and the mechanical seal reaches the end of its travel. Replacing one of them while the others carry on worn gives back only a share of the lost performance, which is the argument for doing the whole wet end at once.
Kits are model specific. The nameplate on the pump gives the full designation. If the pump has been rebuilt before, it is worth measuring the old impeller rather than trusting the nameplate alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will the rebuilt pump match its original performance curve?
It should, provided the suction conditions and the impeller diameter are the same as when it was new. The kit returns the internal clearances to factory dimensions, which is what the published curve assumes.
Q: Is the motor included?
No. A wet end kit covers the liquid handling parts only. That is the point of it - the motor on a close coupled pump usually has far more life left than the parts in front of it, so the kit renews only what is worn.
Q: Can the kit be fitted without removing the pump from the pipework?
On most close coupled designs the casing stays bolted to the pipework while the motor and adapter come away as a unit, which makes it a back pull-out job. Support the motor properly before releasing the last fasteners.
Q: Do I need the pump nameplate to order correctly?
It is the safest starting point, because the kit is model specific. If the plate is missing or painted over, the casing casting numbers and the old impeller diameter together will usually identify the pump.
