Burks 22850-6 Turbine Repair Kit for CR6M series
The Burks 22850-6 is the Burks overhaul kit for Burks CR6M series pumps. Supplied with impeller, raceway, shaft seal, O-ring gasket, impeller locknut and instructions, it covers the parts that decide whether a regenerative turbine pump still makes its rated pressure.
These pumps generate high head at low flow by passing liquid between impeller vanes and raceway many times per revolution. That only works while the running clearance stays tight. Abrasive particles, a dry run or simple hours in service wear both the impeller and the raceway together, which is exactly why Burks supplies them as a matched pair rather than separately.
Match the kit to the seal specification, not only the model. This one covers Burks CR6M series pumps built with the standard Buna-N seal. If the pump was supplied with an alternative elastomer for temperature or chemical reasons, the kit number changes even though the model designation does not.

Q: Is the motor bearing covered by this kit?
No. This kit covers the wet end. Motor bearings, the motor itself and the external pipework are separate items, and on a close coupled pump the shaft is part of the motor rather than the pump.
Q: How often should these pumps be overhauled?
It depends far more on the liquid than on the hours. Clean water and a flooded suction can run for years, while anything carrying grit shortens the interval sharply. Trending discharge pressure at a fixed flow is the most reliable way to plan the work.
Q: Will this kit change the pump performance?
It restores it rather than changing it. The kit brings the internal clearances back to factory dimensions, which is what returns the pump to its original pressure and flow curve.
Q: Do I need any special tools to fit this kit?
Nothing exotic. A means of holding the impeller while the locknut is released, a puller for a stubborn impeller, and a torque wrench for reassembly cover most jobs. The instructions in the box give the sequence and the settings.
