Burks 21362 Noryl Impeller 5.66 in for 20WA6 and 320WA6
This is the genuine Burks noryl impeller at 5.66 in diameter, supplied for 20WA6 and 320WA6 pumps. Everything the pump does at the discharge port starts here. The vanes accelerate liquid outward under centrifugal force, and the volute collects it and converts that speed into head.
Impellers wear from the outside in. Grit and suspended solids scour the vane tips and the shroud faces, the running clearance to the casing opens up, and liquid begins slipping backwards across the vanes instead of being carried round to the discharge. The loss is gradual, which is why it usually goes unnoticed until a tank takes noticeably longer to fill or a pressure gauge stops reaching its old reading.
Because Burks trims this casting to several diameters to suit different duty points, the size in the part number is not optional detail - it is what separates this impeller from its siblings. Measure the old one across the outside of the vanes if there is any doubt, and check that the pump is a 20WA6 and 320WA6 model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the material matter if I have the right size?
Yes. Noryl is what Burks specified here, and the material sets the corrosion resistance, the stiffness of the vanes and the thermal expansion of the part. Substituting a different material in the same diameter can change both pump life and liquid compatibility.
Q: How do I confirm the diameter on the impeller I have now?
Measure across the outside of the vanes at the widest point with the impeller off the shaft. Burks quotes a nominal size, so a reading a few hundredths under is normal on a part that has seen service and does not by itself mean you have the wrong number.
Q: Can I fit a larger diameter to get more pressure?
Only within what the pump and motor were designed for. A bigger impeller draws more power and can overload the motor, raise the axial thrust on the bearings and push the casing past its rating. Stay with the diameter the pump was built around unless Burks lists the larger one for your exact model.
Q: What else is worth changing while the wet end is open?
The casing gasket or O-ring, because it is already disturbed, and the mechanical seal if the pump has any hours on it. The impeller lock screw and washer are cheap and awkward to reach a second time, so most rebuilders replace those at the same time.
