Burks 20158-5 Turbine Repair Kit for CT5M series
The Burks 20158-5 is the genuine Burks turbine pump repair kit for all Burks CT5M series pumps. It gathers every wearing part in the wet end into one box: impeller, raceway, shaft seal, O-ring gasket, impeller locknut and instructions. Buying it as a kit is what keeps a rebuild to a single afternoon instead of three separate orders.
The classic symptom is a pump that still turns, still moves liquid and no longer makes pressure. In a regenerative turbine that almost always means the clearance between impeller and raceway has opened up. Replacing one part without the other leaves a worn surface running against a new one, and the pressure never fully comes back.
Match the kit to the seal specification, not only the model. This one covers all Burks CT5M series pumps built with the standard Buna-N seal. If the pump was supplied with an alternative elastomer for temperature or chemical reasons, the kit number changes even though the model designation does not.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I fit just the impeller and leave the raceway?
It is a false economy. The two wear as a pair and the clearance between them is what makes the pressure, so a new impeller inside a worn raceway gives back only part of the lost performance and the job has to be done again sooner.
Q: How do I know the pump needs a kit rather than something else?
Check the obvious causes of low pressure first - a closed or partly blocked suction line, air leaking into the suction, or the motor running backwards after rewiring. If suction and rotation are correct and the pressure is still down, clearance wear is the usual answer.
Q: Is the motor bearing covered by this kit?
No. This kit covers the wet end. Motor bearings, the motor itself and the external pipework are separate items, and on a close coupled pump the shaft is part of the motor rather than the pump.
Q: How often should these pumps be overhauled?
It depends far more on the liquid than on the hours. Clean water and a flooded suction can run for years, while anything carrying grit shortens the interval sharply. Trending discharge pressure at a fixed flow is the most reliable way to plan the work.
