AMT 4901-010-09 Impeller
The AMT 4901-010-09 is the genuine replacement impeller for AMT 4901-95 and 4901-97 pumps. Having the fitment pinned to specific models is more useful than it might sound, because impellers are among the few pump parts that can fit the shaft perfectly and still be wrong for the machine.
Vane profile and outside diameter together determine how much torque the impeller demands at running speed, and that demand has to be within what the motor can supply. An impeller cut for a larger motor bolts on just as neatly and then runs yours overloaded — excess current, heat in the windings, nuisance overload trips and a shortened motor life. One cut for a smaller motor fits equally well and simply leaves head and flow unclaimed. Neither mistake is visible at assembly time.
Replace the impeller when the vane tips have thinned or gone ragged, when the shroud has worn through or perforated, when erosion at the eye has opened the running clearance, or when cavitation has left the pitted, honeycombed texture on the vane backs. Check the cover or suction plate it runs against while you are in there — a new impeller against a worn wear surface only restores part of the lost performance.
