AMT 4891-010-98 Stainless Steel Impeller Subgroup Kit, 1.0 HP
The AMT 4891-010-98 is the genuine stainless steel impeller subgroup kit for AMT’s 1.0 HP three-phase build. Supplied as a kit rather than a bare impeller, it brings the small components that belong around the impeller along with it — which is the difference between a rebuild that holds and one that works loose.
The parts that surround an impeller are easy to reuse without thinking. Hardware that has been torqued and untorqued a few times has lost some of its clamping reliability; small seals and washers in the impeller area have taken a permanent set. Put a new impeller back on tired hardware and the classic outcome is an impeller that shifts in service — fretting the shaft end, chewing the drive key, going out of balance and then destroying the mechanical seal sitting right behind it.
Stainless steel gives the impeller corrosion resistance in salt water, washdown chemistry and dilute process liquids, and holds a sharper vane edge in abrasive flow than bronze or cast iron. Replace the impeller when the vanes are thinned or ragged, the shroud has worn through, or cavitation has left pitted damage on the vane backs.
