AMT 4850-010-09 Machined Bronze Impeller
The AMT 4850-010-09 is the genuine machined bronze impeller, cut for a Type 6A seal and carried in CLR Marine’s catalog for the AMT Primo pump line. The Type 6A reference is not incidental — the impeller hub is machined to suit that particular seal configuration, so it is matched to the seal as well as to the shaft.
Bronze is the traditional impeller material for marine and raw-water duty, and it earns that position for reasons that have nothing to do with cost. It resists salt water corrosion extremely well, it is naturally unfriendly to marine growth so fouling is slower to take hold inside the pump, and it is soft enough to wear gracefully against an adjacent surface rather than galling or seizing if clearances ever close up. On a pump that might occasionally pass a solid or briefly rub, that forgiveness is genuinely useful.
The other side of that softness is that bronze vane edges round off faster than stainless in abrasive flow, and a rounded leading edge costs head quietly and steadily. Look for thinned or ragged vane tips, a worn or perforated shroud, erosion at the eye that has opened the running clearance, and the pitted honeycomb texture cavitation leaves on the vane backs. Fit a new mechanical seal at the same time, and confirm the part number against your parts breakdown before ordering.
