AMT 3701-014-09 Bronze Impeller, 3/4 HP
The AMT 3701-014-09 is the genuine bronze impeller for AMT’s 3/4 HP three-phase pump build. Bronze is a deliberate choice in marine and raw-water service rather than a cheaper alternative to stainless, and the reasons are worth understanding when you are deciding what to fit.
Bronze resists salt water corrosion extremely well — it is the traditional material for seawater pumps for exactly that reason — and it has two properties stainless does not. It is naturally resistant to marine biofouling, so growth is slower to establish inside the pump, and it is a softer, more forgiving material that wears gracefully against an adjacent surface instead of galling or seizing if clearances close up. In a pump that might occasionally see a solid pass through or a brief rub, that forgiveness has real value.
The trade-off is that bronze is softer than stainless, so vane edges round off faster in abrasive flow. Watch for thinned or ragged vane tips, a worn or perforated shroud, erosion at the eye opening the running clearance, and the pitted honeycomb texture of cavitation on the vane backs. Impellers are cut to suit the motor rating, so a 3/4 HP three-phase impeller is not interchangeable with one for a different horsepower. Check your nameplate against the parts breakdown before ordering.
