AMT 2PXE-300-90 EPDM O-Ring, Gasket and Flap Valve Subgroup
The AMT 2PXE-300-90 is the genuine EPDM O-ring, gasket and flap valve subgroup for AMT’s 2PX threaded pumps. It is a more complete kit than a plain gasket set, because it includes the flap valve as well — and on a self-priming pump the flap valve is every bit as important to holding prime as the static seals are.
Here is why they belong together. A self-priming pump keeps a reservoir of liquid in its casing so it can evacuate air from the suction line on start-up. Two things can lose that reservoir: a leaking static joint, or a flap valve that no longer seats and lets the liquid drain back down the suction. Replace only the gaskets and leave a hardened, curled flap valve in place and the pump will still refuse to prime — which is exactly the frustrating half-repair this kit is designed to prevent.
Everything in the kit is EPDM, which is the specialist compound for hot water, steam, alkalis, caustics and dilute acids, and which also resists ozone and weathering better than most. Its one significant limitation is petroleum — EPDM swells badly in mineral oil, diesel and petrol, so it must be matched to the liquid rather than chosen by default.
