AMT 2105-023-00 #245 Viton O-Ring
The AMT 2105-023-00 is the genuine #245 Viton O-ring used across AMT’s 1-1/2" self-priming range and the 1" 4292-96. Viton is the fluoroelastomer version of this ring, and choosing it over the nitrile equivalent is a decision about what the pump handles rather than how it is built.
Nitrile is perfectly good on water and mild detergents. Put it in contact with solvents, fuels, oils, acids or sustained heat and it starts to change — it swells, it hardens, it loses the elasticity that made it seal in the first place, and it does all of that from the inside out where you cannot see it. Viton resists those same chemistries and temperatures, which is why AMT specifies it for chemical transfer duty and why swapping a Viton ring for a cheaper nitrile one is a false economy that shows up as a leak a few weeks later.
This ring is a single-use item regardless of material. Once compressed in its groove it takes a permanent set, so refitting it means the joint seals at a lower load than designed — on a self-priming pump that shows up as a weep, then air ingestion, then a pump that runs but will not lift.
