AMT 1806-044-90 Stainless Steel Shim Set
The AMT 1806-044-90 is the genuine stainless steel shim set for AMT’s 12-volt washdown pumps, made up of 7/16" x 5/8" shims, 0.030" thick. Shims are how a pump builder turns a stack of parts that are each within tolerance into an assembly that runs with exactly the clearance the designer intended.
Impeller clearance is the specific thing being set here, and it has more effect on how a pump performs than almost anything else you can adjust. Too much clearance and liquid recirculates back around the impeller instead of being pushed out — the pump loses head and flow, works harder for less output, and on a self-priming machine may struggle to prime at all. Too little and the impeller rubs the casing, which costs efficiency, generates heat and eventually damages both parts. The shims let you dial that gap in rather than accept whatever the stack-up gives you.
Stainless steel is used because these shims sit in the wet end where a plain steel shim would rust, swell with corrosion product and quietly change the very clearance it was fitted to set. Keep the set together, fit them clean and flat with no burrs, and re-check impeller clearance any time you replace a shaft, bearing set or impeller. Listed for AMT models 12DC-95 and 12DC-98.
