AMT 1640-162-93 0.75" EPDM JC Type 6A Seal Subgroup
The AMT 1640-162-93 is the genuine 0.75" (3/4") JC Type 6A seal subgroup with EPDM elastomers, listed for the IPT series pumps including the 2P5X, 2P5XC, 2S5X, 2S5XC, 3S5X, 2G4X and 2G5X models. It is supplied as a complete subgroup so the rotating face, seat, spring and elastomers all go in together as the matched set they were made to be.
EPDM is the specialist choice in this family and it is chosen for things Viton and Buna are bad at. It is outstanding with hot water and steam, with alkalis and caustics, with many dilute acids, with ketones, and with the phosphate-ester fluids used in some hydraulic systems. It also shrugs off ozone and weathering. Its one famous weakness is petroleum — put an EPDM seal in contact with mineral oil, diesel or petrol and it swells badly, which is precisely why the elastomer has to be matched to the liquid rather than chosen by habit.
Fit this as a complete subgroup and resist the temptation to reuse the old seat. Clean both faces with a lint-free cloth, handle them by their edges, and check the shaft where the seal rides for scoring before assembly. If the pump has run dry at any point, expect heat damage on the faces and inspect the shaft and sleeve at the same time. Confirm the part number against your parts breakdown before ordering.
