AMT 1610-000-00 #263 Buna-N Casing O-Ring
The AMT 1610-000-00 is the genuine #263 Buna-N O-ring that seals the casing on AMT’s 1-1/2" high-pressure pumps. This is the ring that keeps the pressurised side of the pump separated from the outside world at the casing joint, which on a high-pressure machine is a job with very little margin in it — the higher the discharge pressure, the harder the ring is driven into its groove and the less forgiving the joint becomes of a tired seal.
Buna-N (nitrile) is specified for its combination of resilience, abrasion resistance and compatibility with water and dilute solutions. It stays flexible across normal operating temperatures and takes the repeated pressure cycling of a high-pressure pump without hardening quickly. Where it is not the right choice is high heat or strong oxidising chemistry, which is why AMT offers Viton alternatives in those duties.
This ring is a single-use part. Once it has been compressed at pressure it holds a permanent set, and a reused ring on a high-pressure casing tends to fail suddenly rather than gracefully. Fit a new one whenever the casing is opened, clean the groove out completely, and inspect the groove itself for nicks or erosion — a damaged groove will leak past a brand new ring.
