AMT 1555-142-00 Stainless Steel Shaft Sleeve
The AMT 1555-142-00 is the genuine stainless steel shaft sleeve used in AMT sewage and trash pumps, measuring 1" inside diameter by 2.31" long. It supersedes the earlier part number 1555-140-02. The sleeve is a hard, replaceable collar that slips over the pump shaft through the seal area, and its entire reason for existing is to be the part that wears out instead of the shaft.
That job matters more than it sounds. The mechanical seal runs directly on this surface, and over thousands of hours the seal faces, grit in the pumped liquid and any chemical attack all work on it. Without a sleeve, that damage lands on the shaft itself — and replacing a scored shaft means pulling the whole rotating assembly. With a sleeve, you slide off a worn collar and fit a new one. Stainless steel is specified here for exactly this duty: hard enough to resist scoring, corrosion-resistant enough to survive sewage, wastewater and washdown chemistry.
Replace the sleeve whenever you can feel a groove, a step or a rough patch where the seal rode, and always fit a new mechanical seal at the same time — a new seal on a grooved sleeve will leak within hours, and a used seal on a fresh sleeve will not bed in properly.
