AMT 1471-020-00 Teflon Washer
The AMT 1471-020-00 is the genuine replacement Teflon (PTFE) washer used in AMT self-priming centrifugal pumps. It is a precision-cut flat washer measuring 0.44" inside diameter by 0.63" outside diameter by 0.03" thick. Despite its size, it sits at a loaded interface inside the pump, where its job is to provide a smooth, low-friction bearing face between two components that would otherwise gall, bind or wear against each other.
PTFE is chosen here for reasons no metal washer can match. It has one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid material, so parts turn and seat against it cleanly without picking up or seizing. It is chemically inert, shrugging off the salt water, detergents, mild acids and caustics that get pumped through this equipment. And it is slightly compliant, so it conforms to minor surface irregularities and spreads clamping load evenly rather than concentrating it on a high spot.
Because Teflon is soft by design, this washer is a consumable. Over time it cold-flows, thins, deforms around the fastener or shoulder it sits against, and eventually stops holding the clearance it was installed to hold. Replace it whenever you have the pump apart for seal or impeller work rather than reusing a compressed one — a flattened washer changes the stack-up and can leave the assembly loose or misaligned.
