The AMT 1470-093-00 is the factory replacement rubber slinger washer — also called a flinger washer — used on AMT pump shafts between the mechanical seal and the motor. It measures 1-1/4" inside diameter by 1-7/8" outside diameter by 1/8" thick and stretches onto the shaft so it grips and spins with it. Small as it is, this washer does a real job: any moisture that weeps past the seal hits the spinning rubber and is thrown outward, away from the shaft, instead of running along it and into the motor bearings and windings.

Slinger washers are a wear item and they fail quietly. Heat, oil mist, cleaning chemicals and simple age make the rubber harden, glaze and take a permanent set, and once it loses its grip on the shaft it stops rotating and stops slinging. Because the part is inexpensive and only reachable with the pump apart, the sensible practice is to fit a new one every time the pump is opened up — any time you replace the mechanical seal, renew the impeller, or pull the pump body for service.

This washer is listed for AMT straight centrifugal pumps in the 3150, 3151, 315E and 3152 series and for the 2874-95 through 2879-95 three-inch self-priming pumps, across motor sizes from 2 HP up to 15 HP.
