V3100 Class B AIS
The V3100 Class B AIS incorporates SOTDMA technology and increased transmission power to enhance transmission frequency, reliability, and range compared to standard Class B AIS. This ‘black-box’ solution integrates with Simrad displays, and features industry-standard connectivity.
Increased Transmission Frequency and Reliability
The V3100 Class B AIS incorporates the same SOTDMA technology found in Class A solutions. This self-organizing transmission technology allows the system to negotiate a regular transmission timeslot with other AIS units in range, facilitating more frequent and reliable position updates in high-traffic areas. The V3100 transmits updates, based on vessel speed, up to once every five seconds; this provides up to six times the reporting frequency of standard Class B AIS.
Increased Transmission Range
The V3100 features a maximum transmission power of 5 Watts, 2.5 times the transmission power of standard Class B AIS solutions. This allows vessels equipped with the V3100 to be detected over AIS at a greater range and provides more reliable transmission to satellite-based AIS receivers.
Integrated ‘Black-Box’ Solution
This ‘black box’ AIS solution is designed to work with Simrad multifunction displays, and other NMEA 2000® or NMEA 0183® connected marine electronics. Output to a standard PC is also supported via USB connectivity. The V3100 is contained in a compact IP67 water-resistant housing and includes a built-in SD card slot for standalone AIS data logging.
Features:
Enhanced performance compared to standard Class B AIS
Transmit over greater distances with 5-watt output power
Transmit more frequent position updates with SOTDMA
Greater transmission reliability in high-traffic areas
Integrated ‘black-box’ solution
NMEA 2000®, dual NMEA 0183®, and USB connectivity
IP67 water-resistant housing
Built-in SD card slot for AIS data logging

28 ST FS - 2-Speed Self-Tailing Manual Winch - Full Stainless Steel
If you take pride in having your yacht look its best, ANDERSEN's Full Stainless Self-Tailing Winch creates the dock-stopping appeal you desire. It combines all the convenience and power of ANDERSEN's self-tailing winch with a stunning all stainless steel look.
From top to bottom the drive shaft stripper arm, self-tailing jaws, drum and upper & lower trim rings are manufactured in highest quality and beautifully polished grade 316 stainless steel. The dramatic result is a highly reflective winch that becomes a highlight of the boat and a true reflection of your yachting pride. We like to say, “Full Stainless – Beyond Good Looks.”
As with all ANDERSEN Winches™, our Full Stainless Self-Tailing winch features the exclusive stainless steel Power Rib™ drum for maximum power and extended line life. This model also uses our exclusive self-tailing device that automatically accommodates a wide range of different line sizes.
Materials
Andersen winch drums are produced from grade 316L stainless steel, cold formed in stages during manufacture to further increase strength and hardness as it takes its final form. The resulting construction is lightweight, yet stiff and unyielding.
Drive shafts are in grade 329 duplex stainless steel. Pawls are cut from a cold pressed profile in grade 316 stainless steel and are virtually unbreakable.
The upper center stems are manufactured from aluminum bronze for ultimate durability. The combination of materials and design contribute to a lightweight, rigid final assembly that enhances. the mechanical efficiency of the winch. Andersen winces are of similar weight to winches with aluminum drums, but are far more durable.
Power Rib™
ANDERSEN Winches© feature the Power Rib™. Unlike other winches with abrasive drum surfaces, ANDERSEN winch drums have vertical ribs running up the surface. This combined with the smooth polished stainless steel gives a maximum grip and minimum wear on ropes, reducing the replacements costs of sheets and halyards. What's more, the Power Rib principle simply makes sailing more pleasurable. Fewer turns on the winch make tacking easier. Sheets can be gently eased out without harsh snatching and the risks of overrides and jammed sheets are significantly reduced. The grip provided by the ribs will remain the same year after year, unlike many other winches with an abrasive or sandpaper-like surface. Such surfaces have a tendency to wear down both ropes and themselves.
Power Ratio
Power Ratio is the mechanical advantage of the winch and is calculated as follows:
length of handle x gear ratio
radius of drum
The pull of the winch is based on the Power Ratio and not just on the physical size of the winch or the diameter of the drum. The Power Ratio is used to determine the load the winch may handle as follows:pull of handle (kg x Power Ratio = pull of winch (kg).
This means that by applying a load of 10kg, using a 10" standard handle, on a Power Ratio 40:1 winch, the winch can pull 400kg, assuming that the winch is 100% efficient. This is not possible in practice as the efficiency is reduced by internal mechanical friction losses.
Features
Anderson winch drums incorporate the distinctive Power Rib which ensures a controlled grip on the line at all times, whether trimming or easing. The highly polished stainless steel surface minimizes vertical friction and allows the loaded rope turns to slide easily upward as the drum rotates, without the shuddering and excessive rope wear seen on winches that rely on a rough surface finish for grip.
Stainless steel roller bearings and ball bearings carry the highest drum loads to the center stem of the winch, minimizing efficiency losses due to friction.
The self tailing arm can be rotated through 360 degrees for optimum positioning (40ST and larger). Stainless steel self-tailing jaws adjust automatically to suit various rope sizes.
Andersen winches are designed for simple, straightforward installation and maintenance. Servicing is only required every two years or so, under normal use.

Flexible Shaft Coupling for 5" B/W, Hurth, & Volvo - 25HP/100RPM Capacity
The R & D Marine Flexible Coupling consists of a flexible disc molded with a polyester elastomer. The disc gives clearance for bolt heads and is able to flex freely to take up any temporary misalignment of the engine and shaft due to flexing of the boat structure or the engine moving on its mount. Forward thrust is taken in compression on the disc between the two half couplings, and reverse thrust is retaken in compression on the disc between the two fail-safe straps. In the unlikely event of a severe impact, the steel straps make the coupling fail-safe and ensure the drive is maintained both forward and reverse.
Reduce Engine Noise & Transmission Vibration
Staggered bolts enable the element to isolate vibrations and compensate for some misalignment.
Reduces Costly Transmission Repairs
Absorbs shock loads due to hard gear changes.
Fits Most Major Transmissions
For engines, 5 to 1,500 horsepower It fits brands such as Borg Warner, ZF-Hurth, Twin Disc, Volvo, Yanmar, Technodrive, and more.
Under Compression Load In Both Forward & Reverse
The aft steel strap bolted to the transmission acts as a backing plate to prevent reverse thrust from pulling the element apart.
Quick & Easy Installation
The R & D Marine Flexible Coupling requires no machining and comes supplied with bolts to connect between the two existing shaft flanges.
Extremely Durable
Impervious to saltwater, diesel, and lubrication oils. The Flexible Couplings are made from a polyester elastomer not affected by saltwater, diesel, or lubrication fluids.
Fail-Safe Design
A fail-safe design is incorporated in the R & D Flexible Shaft Coupling that prevents the two couplings from pulling apart in the event of an impact or element failure, whereas other couplings do not. This fail-safe design is accomplished by using two steel straps and thru-bolts going into both the shaft coupling and transmission output flange. The aft steel strap is bolted to the transmission output flange, and the front strap is bolted to the shaft coupling. In the event of an impact, the aft steel strap (bolted to the transmission) will catch the front steel strap (bolted to the shaft coupling) and prevent the drivetrain from pulling apart.
The R & D element will absorb the shock load (reducing or eliminating damage to the transmission) and will maintain contact between the two couplings. The steel straps also keep the R & D Flex-Coupling under a compression load in both forward and reverse operation (the aft strap bolted to the transmission acts as a backing plate).
Machined Not Molded
The Drivesaver is molded, while the R & D Flexible Shaft Coupling is machined. Both designs suggested that you first set your alignment by drawing the two couplings up to each other and then adding the flex-coupling. The machined part will have MUCH tighter tolerance than a molded part.
Checking Alignment
The R & D Flexible Shaft Coupling allows for alignment inspection after the element is bolted in place. There is one bolt head that is machined and painted red. After the R & D Flexible Shaft Coupling is bolted into place, a feeler gauge can be slipped between the red bolt head and the coupling. This process is repeated with the same bolt four times at 90-degree intervals by rotating the shaft. If the gap is within .010" (0.25mm), the engine is accurately aligned.
To calculate the power of the coupling required:
Horse Power of Engine x Reduction Ratio x 100 = HP/100RPM
Engine Speed
Example:
Ford 150 HP at 2500 RPM with Borg Warner Velvet Drive 72C 2:1 Reduction Ratio
Engine Horse Power is 150 HP, Max Rated RPM is 2500, Reduction Ratio is 2:1
150/2500 x 2 x 100 = 12 HP per 100RPM
The coupling required is 910-009
