BM100 Battery Monitoring Solution
The BM100 is a complete system comprising SmartShunt and the veKonvert NMEA 2000 interface. It is part of Digital Yacht’s iSeaSense range of NMEA 2000 boat instruments. With this solution, your multi-function display becomes a sophisticated battery and energy management system.
Features
Digital Yacht’s BM100 battery monitoring system allows highly accurate DC voltage, current, and capacity measurements, enabling reliable monitoring of your boat’s battery and electrical system.
Core to the system is the SmartShunt. It measures battery voltage and current. Based on these measurements, it intelligently calculates the battery’s state of charge and the time to depletion for the remaining charge. It also keeps track of historical data, such as the deepest discharge and average discharge current, as well as the number of charge and discharge cycles. The smart shunt can also monitor the voltage of a 2nd battery, typically dedicated to engine starting.
The product is a collaboration between Victron Energy and Digital Yacht. The system utilizes Victron’s proprietary VE.Direct data connectivity as a source for the NMEA 2000 data.
The BM100 is part of a wider group of products now introduced by Digital Yacht that bring NMEA 2000 connectivity to Victron systems using the VE.Direct interface.
Victron solar panel controllers (MPPTs) and battery monitors can now also interconnect to NMEA 2000 via the veKonvert interface.
Monitoring the battery with the BM100 will give important feedback to the user so that remedial measures can be taken when necessary. Doing this will extend battery life. There’s also an optional battery temperature sensor available.
The BM100 can also integrate with Digital Yacht’s other NMEA 2000 and wireless instruments, which offer hybrid NMEA 2000 and wireless display options.
NMEA 2000 Interface
The system features an NMEA 2000 interface, so your navigation multi-function display or plotter can display all key parameters. Modern MFDs from leading manufacturers such as Garmin, Raymarine, Furuno, and Navico allow electrical battery data to be displayed via their NMEA 2000 interface. Alarms and alerts for low capacity and voltage can also be enabled.
Bluetooth Interface
The BM100 also has a standalone wireless Bluetooth interface, so your mobile phone or iPad can connect and display current, voltage, capacity, additional historical data, state of charge information, and time to go based on remaining battery capacity.

The Coast Guard's Seventh District has received at least three reports in the past few months regarding unapproved replacements of 406 EPIRB batteries by servicing companies having no association with the EPIRB manufacturer. These unauthorized battery installations would likely result in a failure of this critical item of lifesaving equipment, and as such are not in compliance with the operational readiness requirements of 46 CFR.
The following is a typical excerpt from an EPIRB manufacturer report:
"The unit was opened and a foreign battery was found inside. The battery was built up using (manufacturer) fuses and wiring salvaged from the original (manufacturer) battery. They then covered their battery with the original (manufacturer) yellow heat shrink, (manufacturer) labels and taped it together. This was then covered with a black heat shrink wrap. The connections were soldered and not spot welded, as is required by the design and is performed in (manufacturer) production. The battery measured 8.7 volts. Our batteries read 9+ volts when they are new. This battery was installed one week prior to it being brought into (manufacturer).
There was also evidence of water intrusion due to the crack in the top cap, which (servicing company) did not recognize as they are not trained in these matters.
The EPIRB was condemned by (manufacturer) and the customer was notified when he came to pick the unit up."
Every approved (i.e., accepted by the FCC) EPIRB is tested during its approval process using a battery, or batteries, specified by the manufacturer. Approved EPIRBs come with a user's manual which describes battery maintenance and replacement procedures. In order for the EPIRB to remain within the conditions of its approval, the manufacturer's instructions in the user's manual must be adhered to. To ensure that replacement batteries are of the same type with which the EPIRB was approved, and are correctly installed, manufacturers typically specify that battery replacements only be done by the manufacturer or a manufacturer-approved shop.
Any modification or changes to an EPIRP must be made in accordance with the manufacturer. The use of alternative replacement parts or batteries is prohibited and may prevent the device from meeting lifesaving requirements. The Coast Guard strongly reminds EPIRB owners and servicing facilities to be aware of the compliance implications and potential for equipment failure stemming from any EPIRB modification or unauthorized battery replacement.
This safety alert is provided for informational purposes only and does not relieve any domestic or international safety, operational or material requirement. Questions regarding the information presented in this alert may be addressed to LCDR Vince Gamma of the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters Lifesaving & Fire Safety Standards Division at 202.372.1396 or Vincent.A.Gamma at uscg.mil.

B.O.S. Battery Optimization System - 12V - 2-Bank
B.O.S. actively shuttles energy between batteries to keep “the pack” balanced, increasing battery strength and longevity.
Batteries in a pack will become “out of balance” and the pack is only as good as its “weakest link”. In watercraft applications, this is further compounded when the trolling motor battery is used for peripherals and/or to assist the cranking battery.
B.O.S. actively shuttles energy as needed between batteries wired in series to ensure equal voltage before, during and after charging.
B.O.S. keeps packs balanced, enabling maximum performance, and quadruples run time on the water.
Premature battery failure due to an unbalanced pack has been, unfortunately, accepted as the ‘norm’ for decades. The B.O.S. answers this call with a BSAP-24 algorithm that can accurately predict and select the battery that needs additional energy to match the other batteries within the pack. This simultaneously and successfully extends the life of each battery in the pack, as well as increasing run times.
Features:
Available in 6V, 8V, and 12V configuration
Up to six batteries in series
Battery Selection and Prediction (BSAP-24) algorithm
Less than 1mA sleep mode
Transfer rate up to 7.5A
Self-powered
Any type of battery chemistry
Used in any application where batteries are in series:
Marine
Golf
Industrial
Aerial Equipment
Solar Power
Electrical Vehicles
Communications
Defense/Military

200A, 40V 3-Bank Ideal Battery Isolator
Features:
Waterproof Expoxy Sealed Construction
Easy Connection
Most Efficient use of Available Alternator Output
Maximize Battery Performance
Three year parts and labour warranty
Analytic Systems introduces the IBI (Ideal Battery Isolator) for 1, 2 and 3 bank battery systems, allowing all the batteries to be fully charged from a single alternator while maintaining electrical
isolation between the battery banks or between a vehicle and trailer.
Ideal Diode technology uses MosFet Transistors and control circuitry to replace the diode used in a traditional battery isolator and reduces the voltage drop across the isolator to a mere 160 millivolts at 200 Amps of charging current and essentially zero volts at low current, so all the power of the alternator is applied to the batteries ensuring a full recharge every time.
While the Ideal Battery Isolator is designed to be used with an alternator, it can also be used to convert a single bank battery charger to a 2 or 3 bank charger or as a pure diode between a vehicle and trailer or other remote load.

Three-Stage Charging
Multistage charging ensures batteries receive optimum charging, but with minimal wear and tear, regulating the voltage and current delivered to the batteries in three automatic stages:
Bulk: Replaces 70–80% of the battery’s state-of-charge at the fastest possible rate
Absorption: Replenishes the remaining 20–30% of charge, bringing the battery to a full charge at a slow, safe rate
Float: Voltage is reduced and held constant to prevent damage and maintain batteries at a full charge for the remaining 20–30% of charge, bringing the battery to a full charge at a slow, safe rate
Power Factor Corrected (PFC) Charging
Less shore power is required for charging batteries, freeing up more usable AC power for running electrical devices and appliances and reducing the likelihood of tripping shore power breakers.
