DFF1-UHD
Fish Might Call It "The Triple Threat"!
Designed to operate over a wide range of frequencies utilizing a broadband transducer, the new TruEcho CHIRP-enabled network sounder DFF1-UHD delivers significant advancements in signal clarity and target definition. The clear presentation of the DFF1-UHD marks individual game fish and bait fish, even when tightly schooled together or very near the sea floor.
Benefits of CHIRP sounders:
Standard, non-CHIRP Fish Finders operate at one or two individual frequencies and are generally capable of detecting targets and displaying them only within those narrow frequency bands. CHIRP Fish Finders transmit pulses across a wide range of frequencies, allowing Furuno's superior digital signal processing (DSP) to display fish and structure targets with unparalleled clarity, accuracy and resolution.
Typical Non-CHIRP Fish Finders operate with a maximum duty cycle of 1% - meaning they transmit a voltage to the transducer no more than 1% of the time. Consequently the transmit pulse can be high power but very short duration, limiting the total energy that is transmitted into the water column.
The DFF1-UHD uses a precise sweep pattern across 90 frequencies (50 kHz +/- 20 kHz, 200 kHz +/- 25 kHz) within a long-duration transmission. The equivalent sound energy transmitted into the water is 10 to 1,000 times greater than a conventional Fish Finder, resulting in more energy on target. The results are up to 5x greater resolution and depth capability than comparably powered, standard Fish Finders due to the advanced signal processing of the return echo. This product may not be returned to the original point of purchase. Even the best sports fishermen need assistance when it comes to finding areas where the fish are abundant. From the most technically advanced drone-assisted fish scouting, to having a plain old sixth sense, the fish are out there, if you know where and how to look. To catch fish, first, you have to find them.
But First, A Little Fishing History
Called the Popeil Pocket Fisherman, The Pocket Fisherman was invented in 1963 by Ron Popeil's father after the tip of a fishing pole nearly injured him. Today's version sells for $29.99 and has a double-flex rod hinge that unfolds to a fully extendable position. Together, both versions of the Pocket Fisherman have sold more than two million units. It's a cool, inexpensive gadget to leave in your car or throw in your travel bag. While working at an RV resort camping store in Colorado, I had customers ask what fishing gear we stocked. Not much for fishing, except some toy poles for youth under 14 years, and artificial bate. When no adult fishing gear is near, the Pocket Fisherman is handy to have.
Featured below are several fish finding units that range from high tech to low, and vary in price. There are hundreds of fish finding devices, monitors and cameras on the market. In addition to reading about them here, do a little research on what works best for your fishing skill level.

It is 11.5cm long and pre-weighted to an optimized 94 grams, with a 1,000 lb tension rating and a 500' depth rating.
The camera will only record underwater, but once out of the water, you can download the footage to your mobile device via its onboard Wi-Fi signal. It will live-feed when used in conjunction with the included bobber accessory above water. The accessory allows the sensor to be out of the water and will live-feed between 20-30' away from you. If the line breaks, you will lose your camera. The manufacturer suggests a high-pound test braid as your mainline and a lighter mono leader. It assures the weakest point between the lure and camera and not the mainline between camera and reel. $199.99

New Product Preview
Including 3D Multi-beam Sonar & Radars
For NavNet TZtouch & TZtouch2
The Miami Boat show marks the opening of an event that each year continues to set the tone for the recreational boating industry. Furuno would like to introduce the boating public to some exciting new products. We'd like to provide you with a preview of the upcoming products.
The star of this year's show for Furuno is certain to be the all-new DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar. We're proud to bring 3D underwater viewing and side-scanning capabilities to our flagship NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 MFDs, with this all-new DFF3D black box module. This Multi-beam Sonar takes the highly-desired ability to scan port to starboard under the vessel and ups the ante by displaying unique 3D Sounder History that presents a very intuitive three-dimensional image of the seafloor, along with icons depicting fish distribution. This mode is extremely useful for locking-in on fishing hot spots and assessing the seabed condition. Leveraging Furuno's unique commercial fisheries experience and technology, the DFF3D delivers a sidebar detection range of an unprecedented 650+ feet, while also seeing down to over 1,000 feet, possibly making it the only Sounder many fishermen will need!
The DFF3D is scheduled to begin shipping later this spring and will initially be paired with an all-new, motion stabilized multi-beam, thru-hull transducer. Additional transducer options, including a transom mount version, will be available later in the year. Please take a few moments to check out the videos below and accompanying DFF3D brochure that will introduce you to the many features, abilities and benefits of this revolutionary new fishing machine from Furuno!
Enhancing NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 sensor options doesn't stop with the DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar. Furuno's already extensive and award-winning DRS family of ultra-high definition Radar sensors is expanding. With the 2016 introduction of the DRS6AX X-Class Radar, Furuno raised the bar on performance for traditional X-Band recreational Radar. Now, we're moving that bar up a couple more notches with two new, high-power X-Class Radar options for NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2, the DRS12AX and DRS25AX. These two new Radars not only deliver incredibly high performance and useful features, but do so at an extremely competitive price. Scheduled to commence delivery this spring. As with other open array DRS Radars, these new models can be paired with a number of antenna options, ranging in size from 3.5 to 6 feet. Check out the below video on the newly expanded line of X-Class Radars, and download updated brochures for NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2, which now include product info for these new Radars and the DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar.
In addition to new Sonar and Radar options, NavNet TZtouch2 MFD's will soon provide extensive and valuable data to owners of Yamaha's most popular outboard engines. Furuno is one of the first manufacturers to integrate an MFD with Yamaha Engines, to display gauges and other important information. Furuno collaborated closely with Yamaha to create the interface, while designing the gauges to emulate Yamaha's familiar look and feel. NavNet TZtouch2 interfaces with Yamaha's Helm Master®, Command Link® and Command Link Plus® to bring engine data across the network. This marriage of helm navigation and engine data places all of this critical information at the operator's fingertips, making TZtouch2 a truly turnkey solution for many boats. While this integration will require the purchase of an inexpensive gateway module from Yamaha, the availability of this data on a TZtouch2 MFD will be a no-cost upgrade for customers, as it will be incorporated into an upcoming TZtouch2 software update, coming this spring. While there will be a formal introduction when the software update becomes available, you can get more detailed info on this exciting integration between TZtouch2 and Yamaha engines by reviewing the product brochure.
Yamaha Engine Gauges on TZTL15F MFD
The new product excitement is not only confined to NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2. Furuno is also pleased to be premiering our latest standalone Radar model, the all-new 1815 Color LCD Radar. The Furuno 1815 assembles some of the very best features of our latest commercial and network models, presenting them in a compact and durable standalone Radar package that includes a stylish, low-profile 4kW Radome antenna, packaged with an 8.4" color LCD display that is a cosmetic match to the extremely popular FCV588 Fish Finder.
The 1815 is designed for a wide variety of vessels, including pleasure craft, workboats and small fishing boats that require an easy-to-use, true color Radar, at an affordable price point. This compact Radar incorporates many of Furuno's latest Radar features, including Furuno's Fast Target Tracking (TT) function, which allows the user to manually or automatically track up to 10 targets. In addition to TT, the 1815 can also display up to 100 AIS targets, when interfaced with an AIS Receiver and applicable sensors. Another useful feature is Furuno's proprietary True Trail mode. With True Trails, moving objects will show a gradation trail of the target in their wake, making it possible to gauge the directional movement of targets at a glance. These features, combined with Furuno's unique True View mode, make reading the display easier and more intuitive, even for novice navigators. The full-featured 1815 Radar will be a very economical upgrade for boaters. For more specific details on the all-new 1815 compact, standalone Radar, be sure to check out the 1815 product brochure.
As you can see, Furuno is going to provide our mutual boating customers with a number of new product surprises. To see these products in action, we trust this New Product Preview will provide you with the latest and greatest info on these upcoming offerings. S2016 16" Fishfinder w/Broadband Sounder™ Module & CHIRP Technology - Wide Screen
The Simrad S2016 Fish Finder combines the Broadband Sounder™ module with CHIRP technology, 16" widescreen display for an extensive on-screen history, and intuitive keypad-driven operation. Robust and offering both bracket and flush-mount installation options, the S2016 was designed to meet the need for a dedicated fish finder display aboard coastal and offshore fishing vessels.
Key features:
Dedicated fish-finder with integrated Broadband Sounder™ module and CHIRP technology
High depth penetration and ping speed
Vertical heave compensation
16" 1366 x 768-pixel high-definition widescreen LCD
HDMI output for mirrored secondary display
See clearly with White Line, White Marker, and Color Erase features
Simple operation with 8 direct-access menu keys
Bracket and flush mounting options (bracket included)
Full-sized SD card slot for logs and software updates
Ethernet, NMEA0183 & NMEA2000 connectivity
Integrated Single-Channel Broadband Sounder™ Module
The S2009 includes a Broadband Sounder™ module with plug-and-play transducer port, compatible with Simrad and Airmar transducers equipped with blue 7-pin connectors. Adapters are available to allow easy and cost-effective retrofit of existing Simrad, Airmar, and other third-party transducers.
CHIRP Technology
The S2009 includes CHIRP technology, which utilizes frequency-swept sonar pulses to deliver higher resolution, improved target separation, and greater image clarity than traditional sonar at all depth ranges. Simrad technology makes CHIRP available not only on special-purpose CHIRP transducers, but also via traditional single-frequency transducers. Vessels with a suitable transducer already installed can add CHIRP technology simply by installing an S2000-series Fish Finder, offering an extremely cost-effective upgrade.
Vertical Heave Compensation
Heave compensation eliminates the vertical effects of wave action from sonar depth measurements, enhancing the accuracy and consistency of bottom tracking in rough conditions. This feature requires a compatible NMEA 2000®-connected satellite compass such as the Simrad HS60 or HS70 to provide real-time heave data.
16" Widescreen Display
With a compact 9" LCD in portrait orientation, the S2009 maximises screen size where limited mounting space is available. Its portrait orientation is well suited to fishing applications, displaying the water column with a high level of vertical detail.
White Line, White Marker and Colour Erase
The S2009 Fish Finder offers a range of features to quickly and easily adjust the on-screen image to suit the task at hand.
-White Line clearly separates the water column from the bottom with a high-contrast white line, for enhanced bottom visibility.
-White Marker allows any user-selected colour from the fish finder image to be replaced with high-contrast white, highlighting specific sonar echoes corresponding to fish or other targets of interest.
-Colour Erase allows any selected colour to be blended into the background, eliminating unwanted noise or unimportant features from the display.
Keypad Operation with Direct-Access Menu Keys
The S2009 is operated by an integrated keypad and rotary dial. Direct-access menu keys beside the display provide intuitive control of on-screen menu options, for one-button access to key settings and features. With reliable, long-life operation and clear tactile feedback, the S2009's large buttons are suitable for use in rough seas, while travelling at speed, and with wet or gloved hands.
Rugged Design with Flexible Mounting Options
The S2009 may be flush-mounted, ideal for installation aboard new vessels. Alternatively, the included gimbal bracket is well suited to outside installations or pilothouse refits. With watertight rear connectors, the S2009 is IPX7 water-resistant from all sides, in either flush- or bracket-mount installation.

The S2009 includes Ethernet connectivity to share sonar data with other Simrad systems including NSO evo2 and NSS evo2 multifunction displays. The S2009 may also be used as a dedicated fish finder display for NSS evo2 systems, receiving sonar data from an NSS evo2 display's built-in Broadband Sounder™ module. Other devices may be networked via the S2009's NMEA 2000® and NMEA 0183® ports, enabling additional functionality such as waypoint marking and sharing with compatible devices.
HDMI Output for Display Mirroring
An HDMI output gives the option of a secondary monitor mirroring the S2016's primary display, allowing fish finder data to be made visible at two separate stations or duplicated on a larger bulkhead-mounted screen. The S2016 is compatible with Simrad MO-series marine monitors, and other standard HDMI-capable displays.
Sonar Log Recording - ciBioBase and Insight Genesis Compatible
The S2009 is capable of recording sonar history to a full-sized SD memory card, which may be easily inserted and removed via a waterproof access hatch on the front panel. Recorded sonar logs may be used with the cloud-based Insight Genesis™ service to create custom fishing charts, or BioBase GIS software to create detailed aquatic bathymetric and vegetation maps for survey and research purposes.
