Smartphone Connectivity utilizing Near Field Communication (NFC)
The integration of NFC technology provides users with the ability to conveniently access beacon data from their mobile phone. The simple act of placing a phone near the beacon automatically opens the ACR Product App and provides access to a wealth of usage data including current battery life, number of self-tests completed, number of GNSS tests completed, and if applicable, the amount of time the beacon has been activated. Detailed information on each self-test and GNSS test performed by the beacon is also available if desired. For each successful GNSS test, users can view a map showing exactly where the test was performed, the date and time of the test, the time it took the beacon to get a fix on your GNSS coordinates, the number of satellites the beacon used to obtain that fix, and the accuracy of the location.
Return Link Service (RLS)
RLS functionality works by sending a signal back through the Galileo satellite network to confirm to the beacon user that their distress message has been received and their location has been detected by the Coast Guard. A confirmation message is distinctly indicated by a flashing blue light on the PLB. Like other ACR beacons that include the important RLS feature, the ResQLink AIS provides the comfort of knowing that a distress message has been successfully delivered. PFD Compatibility and Integration
The ResQLink AIS is designed to install within a life jacket and activate upon inflation of the jacket (semi-automatic). Installation is made simple using the included oral inflation tube clip to attach the PLB to the life jacket with a ribbon connected around the bladder of the life jacket. Once correctly installed, the action of the life jacket inflating triggers the deployment of the antenna and activation of the beacon.
Users not wishing to install the PLB within a life jacket have the option to utilize the included webbing clip to attach the beacon to an appropriately sized belt or the webbing of an inherently buoyant life jacket.

StarPod Kit for Starlink Roam/RV Antenna - Housing & Base
The StarPod from NavPod is a waterproof housing designed for permanent mounting of the Starlink Roam/RV antenna, typically on a yacht’s hardtop or radar arch. The StarPod housing fits Starlink model UTA-212 (dish face measuring 20.2” x 11.9” / 513 mm x 303 mm).
NavPod model SP212-K is the StarPod Kit, which includes the StarPod housing and a black powder-coated aluminum base. The included base is 8.25" tall with a 4" outer diameter and has a 6" circular footprint with four screw mounting holes.

What are the benefits of mounting a Starlink dish in a StarPod?
StarPod protects Starlink and completely encloses the Starlink antenna in a very sturdy and attractive waterproof housing. Testing has proven that there is no degradation of signal inside the thermoformed acrylic-capped ABS housing.
The Starlink Roam dish was originally designed for RVs, not boats. Its waterproof rating of IP54 is a long way from the IP67 rating NavPod is accustomed to in boating from the likes of Garmin, Raymarine, and others. Mounting a Starlink dish inside a StarPod provides additional protection from water intrusion, just as all NavPods have done for other marine electronics for over 25 years.
How do I mount a Starlink dish inside a StarPod?
The 4-legged "X" base that comes with a Starlink Roam dish is not utilized when mounting inside a StarPod; only the dish and attached mounting pole are used. The center post of the Starlink dish is inserted through the center hole in the bottom of the StarPod and extends into the chosen mounting pedestal.
The initial Starlink setup process should be completed before mounting the dish inside a StarPod (refer to your Starlink setup and installation guide for this process). One important thing to note during the setup process is to make sure that the "Snow Melt" setting in the Starlink app is turned to "Off" (this feature produces excess heat to keep snow from piling up on a Starlink dish in winter environments, but is unnecessary and can potentially cause overheating when the dish is mounted inside a housing).
Once the initial Starlink setup process is complete, the next step is to get the dish into a horizontal, or "flat" position, perpendicular to the mounting post. To get the dish into this position, unplug the Starlink dish, then plug it back in and turn it on. The dish will begin to move as part of its startup process, so just wait until it’s in a horizontal position and unplug the dish. This may take a couple of attempts, so just repeat as necessary until the dish is powered off in a horizontal or "flat" position. At this point, the dish can now be mounted inside the StarPod housing (using the instructions and hardware included with the StarPod).

While this functionality makes sense for RV use, it is much less functional for boating use, where the dish would almost never encounter any overhead obstructions.
When testing, a Starlink dish mounted and immobilized inside a StarPod achieved the same signal quality and internet speed as a dish that was free to move outside of a housing. The SC70 and SC130 models include display, processor, antenna and common installation materials. Antenna cables are a required option and are supplied separately. Prepaid airtime is non-refundable. Rates shown apply to GMPCS DP SIM cards only. Contact your GMPCS sales representative for rates applicable to non-GMPCS DP SIM cards. An FCC Regulatory Fee is applied to all airtime purchases for users located in the US.
Due to a change in Iridium's Prepaid policy, effective December 17th, 2013, any unused prepaid minutes that you purchased more than three years ago will begin to expire from your account balance. Minutes purchased within the past three years will continue to remain available.
*#185; 750 prepaid voucher cannot be recharged or extended & is for initial activation only. After use of a 750 prepaid voucher a SIM card can only be loaded with a Standard prepaid airtime voucher but any previous unused minutes at the time of voucher upload will be forfeited.
*² Extends the expiration date for 30 days without adding minutes to the SIM card. Multiple extensions may be purchased at one time. For example: the purchaseof six (6) 30 day extensions will extend the expiration date 180 days.

You will be notified at the email address above when 75% of the airtime you purchased has been used. At that time you may contact GMPCS to "top up" your SIM card with additional airtime. Please note that Prepaid airtime is non-refundable. From your Iridium phone dial or SMS the short code 2888 to review your minute balance or dial 8324 to contact GMPCS to add minutes.
All SIM cards are sent active. If you have asked us not to upload a Prepaid voucher at the time of activation, you must add Prepaid airtime to your SIM within 90 days or your SIM card will automatically deactivate. It is also very important to note that at the end of the period of validity (from the table above) any unused airtime minutes will be lost and cannot be reclaimed. Additionally, if additional Prepaid minutes are not added within 90 days of expiration of the validity period, the SIM card will deactivate.
